Your profile

Updated June 29, 2026

Your Teacher Hive profile is your public page on the site. It shows your name, photo, bio, the apps you've added, the bookmarks you've published, and your follow count. Find your profile at /user/{your-id}.

Setting up your profile

Open Edit Profile from My Settings. A Display Name is required. Optionally, you can add:

  1. A short bio (your subject, grade, school, what you're into).
  2. Audience, subject, and tag chips to help other teachers find you
  3. Public email for others to contact you (this email address will be displayed on your profile page)
  4. Optional website link (your blog, Bluesky, Facebook).
  5. Theme color by choosing a color or entering a hex color code.

Arranging your apps

The order your apps appear in is yours to set, and it is exactly what visitors see on your public profile.

Open My Apps and switch to List view with the view toggle at the top. Each app row has a grip handle on the left.

  1. Drag the grip handle up or down to move an app to a new spot.
  2. Prefer the keyboard? Select the grip handle and press the up or down arrow keys to move the app one place at a time. Home and End jump it to the top or bottom.

Your new order saves on its own, no save button. Apps you haven't arranged yet sit after the ones you've placed, newest first.

Public vs private profiles

Public, anyone on the internet can view your profile, your public apps, and your public bookmarks. Teachers can follow you, find you in search, and send you direct messages.

Private, only you can see your profile. Your apps are still launchable by anyone with the app link, but your profile won't show up in search.

Private profiles can't send or receive direct messages. To start a conversation with another teacher (or be reachable for one), your profile needs to be public. Existing conversations stay open if you later switch to private.

Liking an app also shares your name with the creator, so leaving a like needs a public profile and a display name.

Switch between public and private in My Settings.
