Beta Testers Wanted for Shapegrams Junior

I've been working on Shapegrams Junior, a new web app for students in grades K-3 to practice building pictures with shapes.

It's inspired by my Shapegrams lessons, where older students recreate pictures with shapes in Google Slides. Shapegrams Junior is designed to help younger learners build those same spatial reasoning skills before tackling more advanced challenges.

  • No login required
  • Teachers create a playlist of picture puzzles
  • Share a link with students
  • Students play right in their web browser on a computer or tablet

Try a sample playlist:

I'd love your feedback, especially if you have littles who can give it a try. My 6-year-old niece has been loving it and keeps asking when I'll add more puzzles!

There are built-in hints for students and a Help page for teachers.

Before I officially launch, I want to find any bugs, confusing spots, or pain points so primary teachers can confidently use it with their students.

Give it a go:

I think this is great! One question, while working on the pizza, do you want to cover layering? For instance I put the cheese and crust down first, then went to add the sauce and saw that it was going to be covering part of the cheese, but it auto-layered for me. Wasn't sure if that was intended.

Also, how about after successfully building a shape, you could have three options, 'Play Again' 'Be Creative' & 'Next➞' with Be Creative allowing for color choice of the shapes and the scooter could be green with purple tires...

It is intended. It depends on the mode of the puzzle. Layering is be a more advanced skill, so it’s reserved for the Stacky and Tricky modes.

The Be Creative mode is a great idea! I had something like that is my original plan, and kind of forgot about it!

Dan, your feedback helped me make Shapegrams Junior a better, more creative app. I added a 7th mode called Freely where kids can freely add and color shapes from the picture and other shapes to create something new.

I'm planning to add many more picture puzzles and would love to grow the library to 100+. I vibe coded the puzzle builder so it's fairly simple on my end to add them.
