Tony, I've used GitHub to host because I was under the impression that Drive Files are not able to be retrieved, i.e. can't get a RAW URL for the file. Is that not the case? Is there anything a person needs to be aware of, like for instance, does the file have to be set to 'Anyone with the link'?
Yes, the file has to be set so that anyone with the link can view. The "Drive Thru" app uses the thumbnail image that Google Drive produces for shared images. So it only works with images. And, because it uses the thumbnail loophole, this method could stop working one day. GitHub really is a better route than Google Drive for image hosting.
Is there anything utilizing Google Drive for audio files?
I looked into this last month, and never found a way to serve audio files from Google Drive.
