Superpowers on Teacher Hive are optional add-ons and features. Superpowers let your apps do things that plain HTML cannot, like generate or analyze with AI, send an email to your inbox, store responses online, or share a global leaderboard.
You only turn on the Superpowers an app needs. A spelling quiz that just shows words to students needs no Superpowers. A tutoring assistant that gives feedback uses the AI Superpower. A parent suggestion box app uses the Email Superpower. Most apps use one Superpower; some apps stack two or three.
The Superpowers

How you turn one on
Open the Edit App form on any app you own. Each Superpower has its own section with a toggle. Flip the toggle and the section expands to show the controls you need to configure. Save the app and the Superpower is live.
If you ever change your mind, just flip the toggle off. Your app keeps working, the Superpower just goes quiet.
Stacking Superpowers
You can turn on more than one Superpower at a time. A tutoring app might use the AI Superpower (to give feedback) plus the Email Superpower (to send student progress to you each week).
A note about previews. When your app uses a Superpower, the preview in your AI chatbot (Claude's Canvas, ChatGPT's Canvas, Gemini's Canvas) won't show the Superpower working. The Superpower only connects when the app is hosted on Teacher Hive. Paste the code into the Add App modal and test it on Teacher Hive.
